About crimes

Summary

In this section of EveryBlock, you can find out about recent crimes near you.

The Los Angeles Police Department's data doesn't include information about every crime — just grand theft auto, theft from a vehicle, personal or other theft, aggravated assault, burglary, robbery, rape and homicide. The information includes the incident's location, date, time, case number and police division.

In July 2009, the police department added a significant number of crime reports that had been omitted. We at EveryBlock are in the process of adding those reports to our data.
