Close

There are about 16,000 pools in Los Angeles County. This section of EveryBlock allows you to find pools that closed near you — and find out why they were shuttered.

Reasons for closures vary, from murky water to electrical problems. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health also provides the location of each closure, the date the pool closed, the facility's name and the date it reopened (when available).

Note that this section includes closures throughout Los Angeles County, not just the city of Los Angeles proper.

The data comes from the Swimming Pool Closure page, which is published by the Department of Public Health. The health department updates its database periodically, but is generally weeks and sometimes months behind. We at EveryBlock check for closures each day.

The Department of Public Health inspects pools at least once a year, or after the public complains. After closure, the facility must fix the problem or problems, and can't reopen without city approval.

Many inspected facilities have more than one pool, each of which gets its own inspection. This means that one address can have multiple inspections. The county provides inspection results on its Swimming Pool Inspection Details page.

We at Everyblock also provide that information in our pool inspections section.
