About pool inspections
This section of EveryBlock publishes pool inspection results from throughout Los Angeles County — so you can know what you're diving into at facilities near you.
The inspection information comes from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and includes the name and location of the inspected pool, the date it was inspected, type of facility the pool is attached to (condos, a health club, mobile home parks, etc.) and what, if any, violations were found. Violations include dirt and debris in the pool, problems with the chlorination system or the lack of a sign stating the maximum number of pool occupants.
Also included is the "pool type." This distinguishes swimming pools from spas and wading pools.
Note that this section includes inspections throughout Los Angeles County, not just the city of Los Angeles proper.

The data comes from the Swimming Pool Inspection Details page, which is published by the Department of Public Health. The health department updates its database periodically, but is generally weeks or months behind. We at EveryBlock check for new inspections each day.
How does the inspection process work?
Each pool in Los Angeles County is inspected at least once a year, or after the public complains. Many facilities have more than one pool. Each pool receives its own individual inspection with its own inspection results. This means that one address can have multiple inspections.
There are many reasons a pool can be closed, including problems with drainage, unclear water, chemical imbalance in the water, electrical hazards or the presence of fecal matter. The county provides a list of pools closed on its swimming pool closures page. We at Everyblock, also provide that information in our pool closures section.
